DESCRIPTION:Grassroots Central Mass (GCM) will continue its tradition of celebrating nature and community with its sixth “Trees Are Treasures” tree giveaway and nature events on Sunday\, May 18 at Wells State Park in Sturbridge from 10 am- 3:00 pm. \nGCM\, a local affiliate of Indivisible Mass Coalition (IMC)\, is again co-sponsoring this year’s event with Brookfields Fight Fear (BFF). Both GCM and BFF are local groups dedicated to serving the communities we live in through finding and supporting solutions to issues in our communities\, our state\, and our nation. \nOur event includes a short\, level walk along the Mill Pond Trail at Wells State Park\, where costumed interpreters are stationed to discuss the importance of wetlands\, stone wall history\, and forest ecosystems\, at both child and adult levels. This is a family friendly stroll. \nThis free event will also include children’s crafts under the pavilion\, storytelling\, and a free tree seedling giveaway. Join us to celebrate and appreciate the beauty of our native forest.

Come to learn how we can help our beautiful home heal itself. \nRegenerating Life: How to Cool the Planet\, Feed the World\, and Live Happily Ever After\, a movie by John Feldman\, is presented in three parts. \nPart One\, scheduled for November 8\, 2025\, introduces concepts of our ecological situation\, providing a solid understanding of the social and environmental crises that confront us. \nPart Two\, scheduled for December 6\, 2025\, at 3:00 pm\, continues the examination of the climate change dilemma. \nPart Three\, scheduled for January 10\, 2026\, continues the examination of the prevailing climate change story and offers new\, attainable solutions. \nThe film covers our understanding of how life regulates the climate through photosynthesis\, the carbon cycle\, the water cycle\, the dung cycle\, and the interconnected soil network of fungi\, microorganisms and plant roots.
